The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organized the 6th “The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholars Roundtable Discussion” on Wednesday, 17 January 2024, providing a platform for the scholars and honourable guests to gather together. The event was graced by the presence of Ms. Karen Cheung, Trustee and Chief Strategist of The D. H. Chen Foundation (the Foundation), Ms. Gigi Shuen, Honorary Legal Advisor, Ms. Ruby Yong, Program Director, Mr. Duncan Ma, Program Manager of the Institute of Education Excellence, Mr. Jeremy Lok, Assistant Program Manager of the Institute of Education Excellence and Ms. Zanna Lo, Program Executive of the Institute of Education Excellence; Professor Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, Professor Anthony Chan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, Professor Andy Wong, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid of CUHK and Ms. Lolitta Wong, Director of Institutional Advancement of CUHK.

Professor Anthony Chan delivered his welcoming speech on behalf of CUHK and expressed his sincerest gratitude to the Foundation for its long-term support to the University. He encouraged the scholars to proactively learn more about the local culture and the social development of different countries through traveling and exchange. He also hoped that the scholars would make contribution for our society with the spirit of both the Foundation and CUHK in future. Twelve scholars shared their learning experiences in CUHK, exchange experiences, and career planning with the guests. They also exchanged ideas with the guests and benefited greatly from the roundtable discussion.

In 2015, the Foundation established “The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship” which annually awards around twenty outstanding undergraduate students from various local universities, offering tuition fees, and living and overseas exchange subsidies. The scholars are also offered a wide range of activities, including social services, mentorship programmes, annual receptions and roundtable meetings, in a bid to broaden their global horizons and inspire them to drive community and social development.
