Schroder Investment Management (Hong Kong) Limited (Schroders Hong Kong) today announced the champion in its fund product development challenge, jointly organized with the Faculty of Business Administration at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The winners of the competition will be rewarded with Schroders Scholarships and the Champion team members will be given internship opportunity at Schroders.

As part of its commitment to the development of the Hong Kong financial industry, Schroders is sponsoring a case competition for business school undergraduate students. A total of 84 students from CUHK took part in the competition comprising 21 teams to face the challenging to develop investment fund prototypes that focus on careful risk management, while generating steady returns over a minimum five-year investment horizon. The panel of judges scored them on product originality, thorough explanation on investment strategies and demonstration on the feasibility of the fund’s performance. The three winning teams brought to bear their understanding, creativity and financial acumen to implement investment strategies that balance risk management, return and sustainable growth.

The Centre for Cultural Heritage Studies (CCHS) of the Department of Anthropology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) recently launched a project on 'Chinese Muslim Cultural Heritage Studies'. The project was funded by the Chinese Muslim Cultural and Fraternal Association (CMCFA) with a donation of HK$200,000 to study the Muslim cultures in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao, as well as among overseas Chinese Muslims.

Mr. Tuet Che-yin, B.B.S., Chairman of CMCFA remarked that as the largest Chinese Muslim community in Hong Kong, CMCFA hopes to preserve local Muslim cultural heritage and enhance public knowledge on Islamic culture and local Muslim community through the collaboration with CCHS. At the donation ceremony, he personally donated HK$10,000 to support the project.

'We are grateful to CMCFA for its generous donation that will enhance researchers' and university students' understanding of Islamic and Muslim cultures through organizing talks, conferences and study tours in mainland China and Hong Kong' said Professor Tan Chee-beng, Project Leader and Professor, Department of Anthropology, CUHK.

Generously supported by Oriental Watch and CUHK Caring Alumni Fund, CUHK Rowing Team upgraded its facilities and won both the Jackie Chan Challenge Cup Hong Kong Universities Rowing Championships 2010 and the 24th Hong Kong Intervarsity Rowing Championship in spite of facing great challenges from other universities.

Three state-of-the-art rowing sculls donated by Dr. Yeung Ming-biu, Chairman of the Oriental Watch Group, and the CUHK Caring Alumni Fund have greatly enhanced the performances in both competitions. The CUHK rowing team members are thus able to secure their 9th straight win as Overall Champion in Jackie Chan Challenge Cup Hong Kong Universities Rowing Championships 2010, and as the Men’s and Women’s Champions in the 24th Hong Kong Intervarsity Rowing Championship.

Team leader Zhu Shan-hang said, "Our victory is the result of a whole summer’s hard work and the continued support from fellow alumni and donors."
