The first Presentation Ceremony of “CUHK Scholarship for Children of the Disciplined Services” was held on 30 November 2015. The ceremony was officiated by The Honourable Lai Tung-kwok, Secretary of Security of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR); Dr Wong Yu-hong, Philip, Donor of the Scholarship; Dr Leung Fung-yee, Anita, Chairman of the Committee of Overseers of Lee Woo Sing College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK); Professor Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President of CUHK; and Professor Lau Wan-yee, Joseph, Master of Lee Woo Sing College of CUHK. The ceremony was also graced by the presence of representatives from various disciplinary forces and their staff associations, as well as family members of scholarship recipients.

In his welcoming address, Professor Fok expressed his deepest gratitude to Dr Wong for his generous donation of HK$1 million to the University in establishing a new scholarship scheme for outstanding students whose parents are current or retired employees of disciplinary forces in Hong Kong. Professor Fok encouraged all recipients to strive for academic excellence and all-rounded personal development, with the hope that they will give back to the society after graduation.

All full-time undergraduates, whose parents are current or retired employees of the disciplinary forces in Hong Kong, are eligible to apply for the scholarship. A selection committee will select five students with excellent academic performance to receive this award each year. On behalf of all recipients, Fung Tung-yee, Winter, a Year 3 medical student from New Asia College, expressed her sincere gratitude to Dr Wong, Dr Leung and the members of Lee Woo Sing College for their support and endeavour in making possible the establishment of this meaningful scholarship.
