About Tin Ka Ping Foundation

A renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist, the late Dr Tin Ka-ping established the Tin Ka Ping Foundation in 1982 with the mission of promoting moral education, Chinese cultural studies as well as improving the quality of education for a better future for China. The Foundation is devoted to supporting a wide range of charitable causes, in particular for the education sector in Hong Kong and China, and has funded over 300 schools including universities, secondary schools, primary schools, kindergartens and professional schools in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and mainland China.

History of Collaboration

Since 1992, the Foundation has made numerous donations to CUHK in support of academic and research development, including the establishment of “Hong Kong Institute of Educational Research” (HKIER) which devotes to scholarly enquiry and professional development in education in Hong Kong, mainland China and Asia-Pacific region. In 2013, the Foundation established the “Tin Ka Ping Education Fund” to support a diverse range of educational talent trainings and research activities, including the “Tin Ka Ping Visiting Scholar Scheme”. With the staunch support by the Foundation over the past two decades, CUHK strives to facilitate the development of education in Hong Kong and mainland China through developing innovative initiatives, in the hope of improving the quality of education in mainland China in the long run. To show the profound appreciation of CUHK, a multi-purpose building of the University Library was named after Dr Tin Ka-ping.
