CUHK organizes the second “The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholars Roundtable Discussion”

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organized the second “The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholars Roundtable Discussion” on Thursday, 1 March 2018. The event was graced by the presence of Mr Cheung Wai-hing, Trustee and Chairman of the Education Committee, Mr Alan Chow, Executive Director of The D. H. Chen Foundation, Professor Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President and Director of Admissions and Financial Aid of CUHK, and Ms Janet Chow, Director of Institutional Advancement of CUHK. Professor Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, also join the dinner reception after the roundtable discussion.

On behalf of CUHK, Professor Wong Suk-ying expressed her heartfelt gratitude to The D. H. Chen Foundation for their unfailing support towards the University as well as local tertiary education over the years. She looked forward to continuing the partnership with the Foundation in nurturing brilliant future young leaders. Professor Wong also highlighted the importance of innovation to the betterment of society and encouraged the scholars to promoting innovation by applying the knowledge learnt from their studies.

This academic year, three outstanding CUHK students are honoured to receive the prestigious “The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship”. All award recipients have achieved excellent academic performances together with strong commitment to social services. Two of the scholars shared with the distinguished guests their university life and future goals. One scholar from last academic year has also shared his fruitful overseas exchange experience at the roundtable discussion.

Established in 2015, “The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship Program” annually awards a maximum of twenty outstanding undergraduate students from four local universities aiming to relieve their financial burden and encourage them to widen their social exposure so as to contribute to the society in the future. The D. H. Chen Foundation will offer a wide range of activities for scholars to participate, including social services, mentorship programme, annual dinner and roundtable meetings.
