The Garden Party of the Friends of the Art Museum (the Friends) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) was held on 2 March 2024 at the Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge of CUHK. Members of the Friends, as well as faculty members and students of the Department of Fine Arts of CUHK gathered on this special occasion and enjoyed a fruitful afternoon. The event was graced by the presence of Mr Edwin Mok, the Chair of the Friends; the host Professor Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Professor Tuan delivered his welcoming address on behalf of CUHK and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Friends for their dedicated support to CUHK over the years.  Professor Tuan said, “As a steadfast partner, Friends works with CUHK collectively to bridge across boundaries and enrich the students’ knowledge in Chinese art and culture through multiple channels.”

Mr Edwin Mok thanked Prof Tuan and the CUHK management for hosting the party at the Vice-Chancellor's Lodge with excellent arrangements. He pledged that Friends will continue to join hands with CUHK to support new generations in the field of art and organize an array of activities to propel the development of the creative industry in Hong Kong community.

This year, 15 students have been selected to receive these prestigious awards. On behalf of all recipients, the awardee representative Shen Li gave a vote of thanks. She said, “These funds and grants not only facilitated my concentration on dissertation writing but also played a pivotal role in securing job opportunities.” Shen Li and one of the awardees Cheung Chu Yin, Cyrus presented thank you letter and a seal carving to Mr Edwin Mok on behalf of all recipients to express their gratitude to Friends.

The Friends was founded in 1981 to promote the study and appreciation of Chinese art and culture. Over the years, the Friends committed to supporting art education by generously offering scholarships to outstanding Fine Arts students of CUHK.
