The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has received support from the SHKP-Kwoks’ Foundation for more than two decades in areas such as medical research and education. Recently, Professor Anthony Chan Tak-cheung, CUHK Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Alumni/Community Engagement & Institutional Advancement), and Professor Ko Wing-hung, Associate Vice-President (Student Experience) and University Dean of Students, led a delegation of faculty members and scholarship recipients on a visit to the headquarters of Sun Hung Kai Properties. They met with Ms Amy Kwok, Executive Director of the SHKP-Kwoks’ Foundation, to share the programme’s latest developments.
Professor Chan expressed his gratitude to the foundation for its longstanding support and highlighted the committed partnership that has been built over the years. He noted that the programme not only provided important financial assistance but also reflected the commitment of the business sector to working with universities and nurturing future talent. Professor Ko added that CUHK greatly valued the scholarship programme and has been dedicated to ensuring its quality and effective implementation.
Ms Kwok said: “Sun Hung Kai Properties is committed to ‘Building Homes with Heart’ and my late father Mr Kwok Tak-seng firmly believed in the importance of education and nurturing talent. The Foundation supports outstanding and hardworking students, encouraging them to pursue academic excellence and realise their potential.” She encouraged recipients to make the most of their studies at CUHK, broaden their horizons and contribute to society in the future.
During the meeting, scholarship recipients shared their appreciation for the foundation’s support. They spoke about their learning experiences at CUHK, as well as taking part in overseas exchange programmes, internships and community service activities that have broadened their horizons and enriched their personal growth.
Since its launch in 2005, the “SHKP-Kwoks’ Foundation/CUHK – Local Students Scholarships” programme has provided financial assistance to outstanding students with financial needs, enabling them to pursue undergraduate studies at CUHK. It has empowered students to pursue academic excellence and realise their full potential.
